Basics of Layout

This week in Layout class we watched videos that walked us through some of the basics of layout. Starting with the blank page, a canvas which we have to create something from nothing.  A force of influence. This is something I never noticed but logically it makes sense. The influence of a blank page occurs naturally, it’s just something my mind has never stopped to think about.  A blank page is an active field that influences everything that goes on it. The page itself holds gravity, size, shape, and movement. It’s the starting block in which effects how everything on it is perceived.  A misconception many, including myself, believed  was that design is making something look good. Design is much more than making it look good. That’s what I love so much about it, there is logic and reasoning behind every placement of an object on a page. It’s not complicated, it practical and simple. Now, being in the design field I find the blank page a foundational and practical step in thinking about how I will layout the many projects I will take on this school year.
