This past weekend I did my first engagement shoot. A friend knew I was going to school for media design and had seen some of my work on my social media. They reached out in need of someone to take a few engagement photos while hoping to give me some experience. I was grateful for the opportunity. I definitely think the Lord orchestrated the whole thing. I was very unsure of the whole process. But I stepped in faith knowing the Lord brought me the opportunity, so He was going to walk me through it and equip me for it. He did just that. The session was fun while also challenging. I still need to practice more shooting and getting used to exposure and movement. It’s a lot harder than just taking a picture. After watching different videos on shooting modes I decided to use aperture and shutter speed priority because I find shooting in manual to not be practical. The angles and composition came naturally. I would love to learn more poses for my subjects. I think having a few set poses would make things more smooth. I really enjoyed the process of editing. I made my own presets and would love to make more. It’s so fun to see what the couple likes for editing styles and than create your own. It’s so fun to make the feel of the image by just adding different contrast or hues or adjusting the temperature of the photo. There’s a lot I can learn and improve on. I am just grateful the Lord gave me the opportunity in something I thought I wouldn’t like doing but He knows me best. He has shown me that photography is something I can use to serve others.
