With type and images consider the relationship to the negative space. Images can presented as silhouettes, cut outs, full bleed, or cropped. Depending on where you place the type effects the relationship it has with the image. Type adjacent to an images separates the two. A foreground background relationship is established when type is displayed over an image. Type inside of an image connects both the image and the type. Type in a full bleed image has two relationships. It is directly associated with the image while still containing it’s own independence. Different elements can be used to create foregrounds and separate text from an image.
